Spring Classes

Spring Class Schedule

The Florida Repertory Education Department  is excited to begin our Saturday “Pop Up” - Master Class Series!  We have classes for the curious beginner to the advanced performer.  There’s something for everyone!  Register Today!

Classes will be 2 hours in length and will be held every other Saturday, starting February 11th at the YMCA from 10-12pm

  • Feb 11th 

Scene Work makes the dreamwork: an introduction to Scene Work -Ages 11-14

Instructor - Arielle Conrad

Are you interested in learning to work with others onstage? Join Arielle Conrad for an afternoon of scene work! Come in ready to have a scene and partner assigned to you, get feedback, and work through the scene with one of Florida Rep’s acting interns. This 2-hour class will help you become more comfortable working with other actors onstage, while exploring your own new character.

 Any skill level is welcome and encouraged to join, as this is a class suitable for beginners!

A Taste of NYC - The Meisner Technique - Ages 11-18

Instructor Sarah Brackett

In this class you will learn the acting technique of Sanford Meisner with actor, Sarah Brackett. This class will teach you the skills she learned from her time spent in a professional New York City Meisner Studio. You will learn exercises including repetition and get to try out your new skills while performing cold reads. You will learn Meisner’s philosophy on acting and leave with the tools to get out of your head.


  • March 11th

Audition Workshop - Ages 12-17

Instructor - Emily Turtle

Join us for a “How To” Audition workshop! Whether you are auditioning for a

Production, University, or Summer Program, learn valuable tips and techniques to

ace your next audition!

Come prepared with a musical theatre song, or a short

monologue, and go through a “mock” audition from start to finish all while learning

how to impress directors sitting behind the audition table.

Voice Over Acting - Ages 13-17  

Instructor - Emily Turtle

Ever wonder what it is like to be the voice for an animated cartoon or a commercial? Well look no further than this Voice Over Acting Class! Guided by a professional voice over performer, learn how to create a believable character with just your voice and record yourself using professional voice over equipment!

Musical Theatre Tap (beginners) Ages 10-18

Instructor - Kimberly Suskind

Learn some skills to stand out in your tap auditions! For beginners or those looking to refresh their technique.

Fight Choreography - Ages 10-18

Instructor - Brianna McVaugh

"Cue, Reaction, Action! Learn the basics of unarmed stage combat in this Florida Rep Education Master Class. Come learn how to make slaps, kicks, punches, falls, and more look real and believable onstage all while keeping yourself and your partners safe!"


  • April 22nd

Musical Theatre Tap (advanced) Ages 10-18

Instructor -Kimberly Suskind

Learn some original Broadway tap choreography from the hit musical, 42nd Street, and sharpen your tap skills and technique!

**students should be proficient in time steps 


  • May 6th

I Want to be a Rockette! (Intermediate/Advanced dancers) - Ages 12-18 years

Instructor - Megan Leonard

Dancers will learn a quick and fun jazz combination and learn how to be in a kick line with a former Radio City Rockette! Character heels preferred or may bring jazz shoes to work in.


  • May 20th 

Getting Out Of Your Head - Acting Through Song - Ages 12 -18

Instructor - Seth Patterson 

Students will break down how to act through song and how to engage the audience through their overall stage presence.  There will be a physical warmup at the beginning of class, so wear something comfortable for movement.  We will have 4-6 people sign up to sing and we will work as a class to grow as individual performers and as an ensemble.

Florida Rep Education is proud to offer a wide variety of performing arts classes for the community. These classes are designed for both beginners and serious young artists looking to continue to hone their craft. Classes are taught by working theatre professionals and class sizes are capped at 20 students to maximize individual attention. Classes for students ages 8-16 run for six-week sessions, while our Teen Programming is designed for busy schedules offering one-off masterclasses and events. 

Classes run throughout the regular season September through May. During the summer months, our popular Summer Camps take over the theatre. Our dedicated students who attend one or more of our classes during the year have an opportunity to sign up one week or more for our popular summer camps before the general public.

REFUND POLICY
Class tuition can be refunded in full up to two weeks before the class start date. Refunds will not be granted after the deadline. Cancellations after the two-week deadline, skipped classes and registration fees are non-refundable. After the two-week deadline tuition cannot be credited to future class sessions or programs. 

Switching Classes: If families find that they have a scheduling conflict and need to switch to another class they may make the request before the two-week deadline. Please be aware that switching classes are contingent upon space availability in the desired class.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
Florida Repertory Theatre reserves the right to cancel classes that do not make the minimum enrollment required. In this event, we will notify the families affected by a canceled class with a choice of suitable replacement classes and/or full refunds.

PARKING POLICY
Florida Repertory Theatre is not responsible for providing parking for its classes. We ask that students and their families please utilize the street parking or garages available in downtown Fort Myers. Street parking is free every day after 5 pm. There are also Zip Zone parking spaces that allow vehicles to be parked downtown for 2 hours free of charge. For more information on Fort Myers parking please click here.
