Frozen Jr. – A Magical Kickoff to Summer

Created with Sketch.

Performed June 19–20, 2025 | Directed by Monique Caldwell

Florida Rep’s summer season opened with a storm—in the best way possible. Frozen Jr. was a spectacular introduction to the power of youth theatre. With gorgeous vocals, touching performances, and unforgettable visual moments, this production melted hearts and set the bar high for the rest of the summer.

From the moment the curtain rose on young Anna and Elsa, played sweetly by Nyomi Edouard and Sayler Greenberg, the audience was swept into the magical world of Arendelle. As the story progressed, we saw the characters grow up before our eyes, with Valeria Andrade Torres and Alice Rollins taking on the middle-aged versions, and finally Amelie Andrade Torres and Siena Diblasio leading the way as the adult Anna and Elsa. Each pair brought consistency and depth to their characters, with excellent emotional pacing and beautifully clear storytelling.

Savannah Roberts was an audience favorite as Olaf, delivering a joyful, lovable performance that never felt like a copy of the movie. Ethan Butler’s Kristoff had charm and solid vocals, and Cyrus Katz brought adorable commitment to his role as Sven. The ensemble was incredibly tight, with standout energy from the townspeople and hidden folk who filled the stage with movement, harmony, and color.

Director Monique Caldwell created a storybook world that felt both familiar and new, and it was obvious that every young actor onstage had been empowered to take ownership of their characters. The design elements were stunning—from icy lighting effects to snowy set transitions—and the live theatre magic was real.

Frozen Jr. reminded us all why this story has captured the hearts of millions. It’s not just about magic or catchy songs. It’s about love, identity, and learning to embrace who we truly are. And this young cast absolutely got that message across.
